AirTran Airways adds nonstops to Cancun and Akron-Canton/Cleveland
Turquoise waters and swaying palms turn from a dream to reality, thanks to AirTran’s new Saturday nonstop service between MKE and Cancun, Mexico (CUN). The airline also recently introduced a third nonstop to Akron-Canton Airport (CAK), adding greater flexibility for travelers between MKE and Cleveland.

Frontier Airlines bumps up MKE service with nonstops to Branson
On July 1, Frontier will introduce new nonstop service between MKE and Branson, Mo. (BKG), running three days per week.

MKE marks 20th straight month of growth
Passenger numbers for Mitchell Airport have climbed to new heights. MKE saw record growth for the 20th consecutive month, serving 844,453 passengers in April 2011, resulting in a 1.42 percent increase over April 2010. Airport officials give much of the credit to the recent introduction of several low-fare carriers, including AirTran, Frontier and Southwest. In addition to fares that are on average $98 lower than O’Hare, $16 lower than Midway, and $78 lower than the national average according to the U.S. Department of Transportation, MKE boasts affordable parking and a strong convenience factor.
