New passport rules in effect

New passport rules in effect

If your summer vacation plans include traveling outside of the United States, including Canada, Mexico or the Caribbean, leaving home without proper identification may wipe out your vacation faster than you can say “surf’s up!”

Passport identification – or a very limited number of other travel documents – is now required to be presented by U.S. and Canadian citizens entering the United States by land or sea, as part of the Western Hemisphere Travel Initiative, a nationwide effort to strengthen border security.

For a full list of acceptable documents and special requirements for children, visit http://travel.state.gov/passport/passport_1738_2.html.

The veterans onboard were welcomed home by a drum line and hundreds of family members, friends and supporters who showed their appreciation by cheering, waving American flags and holding up banners.
